Chengdu, Sichuan Sep 8, 2025 – With culinary delights such as Kung Pao Chicken, Mapo Tofu, and Hot Pot, Chengdu, a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, has achieved worldwide recognition. A growing number of international tourists visit Chengdu to experience these memorable flavors. Concurrently, Chengdu’s distinctive agricultural products are increasingly reaching global markets, enabling consumers in more countries and regions to discover the appeal of high-quality “Chengdu Products.”
Contracts Totaling 1.39 Billion Yuan Signed: Specialty Agricultural Products Enter New International Markets
Sweet honey and refreshing fruits captured attention on September 4, during the 11th Chengdu International Urban Modern Agricultural Expo, where Russian business representatives commended Sichuan Jianshengtang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd.’s honey lemon water and honey tangerine products. They promptly extended an invitation for Jianshengtang Agricultural to explore prospects in Russia and establish local distribution. Yang Xianqiang, General Manager of Jianshengtang Agricultural, commented, “Guests noted that our honey beverages align with Russian preferences, and no comparable products are currently available in the Russian market.” Yang has made visiting Russia a priority, with the aim of expanding into overseas markets within the current year.
Beyond Jianshengtang honey, the expo featured a dedicated pavilion named “Agricultural Expo Treasures: Chengdu Products Going Abroad,” displaying Chengdu’s fresh produce such as Jintang Morel Mushrooms, fresh asparagus, Sichuan garlic, and flowers. It also highlighted traditional brands including Pixian Douban, Chongzhou Loquat Tea, Qionglai Black Tea, Dujiangyan Tea, and Jianzhou Large-Eared Sheep, alongside novel offerings like Runzhao Caviar and Haiguang Eel. This unified initiative seeks to globally promote agricultural products under the “Chuan Brand” and “Chengdu Brand” labels.
A matchmaking event for the 2025 China Agricultural Products Promotion and “Chengdu Products Going Abroad” took place during the expo. A cooperation framework agreement was established between Wenjiang District and the Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. This agreement aims to expedite Chengdu’s role as a gateway for western openness and a central driving force for agricultural modernization. More than 100 international buyers and domestic distributors attended, finalizing several agricultural trade agreements and investment projects valued at 1.39 billion yuan, thereby consistently expanding avenues for Chengdu’s specialty agricultural products to reach international markets.
Expanding International Trade Routes: High-Quality “Chengdu Products” Experience Rising Demand
The 11th China-Germany Agricultural Week also occurred in Chengdu concurrently with the expo. The city’s advanced modern urban agriculture greatly impressed German attendees, indicating considerable potential for collaboration in premium agricultural production, sustainable rural advancement, and ecological farming. Consequently, Chengdu’s high-quality agricultural products are anticipated to hasten their expansion into international markets.
Chengdu’s innovative agricultural approaches and products have attracted growing interest from international investors in recent years, leading to an expansion of international trade routes. Dujiangyan City successfully penetrated the ASEAN market with its “national geographical indication” kiwifruit, maintaining a consistent market presence in Thailand, Indonesia, and other nations through inventive operational strategies. Wenjiang District’s “Chuan Nong Niu” red fragrant glutinous rice candy has achieved initial cooperation agreements with several buyers in Oman, targeting the halal food and luxury gift sectors. Dayi County’s konjac products secured an order valued at 2 million yuan with S&S TRADING of Thailand. Furthermore, in April 2025, Chengdu’s tea enterprises finalized intention agreements with companies from Thailand, Russia, Uzbekistan, Australia, and other regions, accumulating international orders surpassing 50 million yuan.
As they expand globally, Chengdu’s agricultural enterprises are continuously refining their capabilities to access international markets with premium products. Chengdu Fengke Biotechnology Co., Ltd. distributes its edible fungi products across 57 countries and regions, with its exports of crab-flavored and white jade mushrooms leading the nation. Chengdu Zhongyue Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. exports high-quality garlic, onions, and ginger to Thailand and South Korea, planning annual exports of over 1,000 tons. Sichuan Tiandi Sheep Biological Engineering Co. has successfully entered the African market by supplying breeding sheep to Uganda.
A growing array of “Chengdu Products” are being introduced onto the international stage, boosting the global recognition of Chengdu’s specialty agricultural offerings and accelerating foreign market penetration, thereby solidifying the worldwide standing of the “Land of Abundance.”
