BEIJING, July 01, 2024 — On June 29, the AI Town Innovation Conference of Beijing E-Town was held at the National Industrial Park for Information Technology Application and Innovation, where Beijing E-Town announced its plan to become an AI-driven city.
During the conference, organized by the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Management Committee, E-Town unveiled its top ten AI application scenarios and their outcomes. The Yizhi government affairs large-model service platform was launched, along with the Beijing AI Application Scenario Institute (BAIASI) and Beijing AI Native Industry Acceleration Platform (BAINIAP).
Beijing E-Town has focused on becoming an AI town, driving the deep integration of AI technology into the development of E-Town New Town and its industrial upgrading and transformation. It has actively sought to introduce technological innovation through scenario applications, established city-level AI engineering test platforms, and strives to achieve a balance between development and safety. It has been exploring how AI can empower production and lifestyles, pioneering trials in specialized industries, high-risk roles, and repetitive labor segments, and boosting the incubation, application, and empowerment of AI technology across the district.
As a pioneer in the capital’s high-quality development, a cornerstone of the capital’s real economy, and a leading hub for high-end, sophisticated, and cutting-edge technology sectors, Beijing E-Town boasts nearly 100,000 business entities and has attracted 157 projects invested by 102 global 500 enterprises. These projects cover a diverse range of industrial scenarios, including biomedicine, automobile manufacturing, commercial space, and intelligent manufacturing. By accumulating a vast array of high-quality data in vertical fields, the area has gained exceptional AI application advantages, making it an ideal testing ground for large AI models and industry-specific models.
E-Town has selected the first batch of AI benchmark application scenarios, encompassing ten areas such as medical and healthcare, transport & travel, car cockpits, humanoid robots, new retail, governmental services, industrial design, drug R&D, energy conservation and carbon reduction, and news & media. Notably, AI plus medical and healthcare scenarios are being implemented to support the development of AI training centers for medical and healthcare professionals. E-Town has partnered with reputable institutions to establish high-quality health data zones to promote disease diagnosis & treatment applications. Across the district, public health institutions have been designated as smart medical pilot sites to support large-model enterprises in identifying quality solutions related to smart triage, auxiliary diagnosis & treatment, and digital doctors.
“We welcome innovation entities specializing in AI chips, large basic models, industry applications, and data governance to participate in developing Beijing E-Town’s AI demonstration application scenarios.” The head of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area Management Committee extended an invitation to global enterprises in the release session, hoping that these ten benchmark application scenarios would lead to the development of a number of pioneering, replicable, and promotional E-Town solutions to drive the development of the AI town.
The launch of BAIASI and BAINIAP has provided a foundation for accelerating AI industry aggregation and the application of key industry scenarios. The development area will also offer comprehensive support to AI enterprises and talent, establish venture capital funds, industry funds, and a 10-billion-yuan special fund, and build a full-chain investment platform for businesses throughout their growth cycle.
Yizhi, the city’s first large-model service platform for government affairs, was officially launched. This new-generation data infrastructure of Beijing E-Town adopts the new architecture of one portal, three centers, and three engines, featuring multi-model management, knowledge base operation, agent convergence, one-stop supervision, plug-in call, and localized adaptation. Yizhi has assisted E-Town’s departments in applying large-model technology for digital transformation, which has been implemented in eight sub-scenarios.
