SHENYANG, China, June 14, 2024 — The first China (Shenyang) Comedy Film Week, held in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, from June 7th to 11th, featured a range of events, including comedy film screenings, “Shenyang field trips” for comedy filmmakers, and opening and closing ceremonies. The event aimed to promote the integration and development of culture, sports, and tourism, leveraging the comedic heritage of Northeast China and Shenyang’s reputation as a comedy cultural city. The goal was to foster the creation of outstanding comedy films, nurture talented comedy filmmakers, and inspire more comedic works.
The closing ceremony of the 1st China (Shenyang) Comedy Film Week and the Comedy Film Festival took place on June 11th. This grand event, featuring performances by renowned actors, directors, and performers, presented a spectacular display of lights and shadows under the theme “Delightful Gathering in Shenyang, Blooming with Jubilation” for fans and audiences. During the event, many film industry figures expressed their appreciation for the city of Shenyang for providing a platform for comedic expression and exchange.
With the theme “Delightful Gathering in Shenyang, Blooming with Jubilation,” the 1st China (Shenyang) Comedy Film Week focused on comedy films, inviting well-known comedians and showcasing classic and critically acclaimed masterpieces. The Comedy Film Week also served as a window to display the dynamism of Chinese-style modernization in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, presenting the city’s stunning scenery, rich culture, and development trajectory to both domestic and international audiences. The event aimed to establish Shenyang as a “demonstration site for high-quality integrative development of culture, sports, and tourism,” infusing the city with a profound and enduring cultural force to achieve high-quality development and sustainable revitalization.
