GUIGANG, China, Aug. 18, 2025 — The 15th Guigang Lotus Culture Series recently commenced in Guigang, Guangxi. From July through October, the city is set to host various activities, such as theatrical productions, poetry competitions, and a search for “Top Lotus-Viewing Spots,” all aimed at sustaining its tourism momentum.

According to the Guigang City Publicity Department, Guigang, designated as both a national forest tourism demonstration city and a national pilot for cultural and tourism consumption, is leveraging its strong ecological assets to become an eco-tourism hub for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and ASEAN. Its core attractions are centered around “Three Mountains, One Gorge, One Culture.” The city currently features 52 national A-level tourist sites, 37 rural tourist areas with four-star ratings or higher, and 17 themed tourism camps. The city’s brand, “Camping Paradise, Carefree Guigang,” is receiving growing recognition. In the first half of the year, Guigang welcomed 32.0634 million visitors, generating 30.121 billion yuan in tourism revenue, marking year-on-year increases of 12.88% and 13.87% respectively.

Recognizing that “visitor numbers convert into sustained engagement,” Guigang has strategically utilized performances and events to drive urban growth. This year, the city hosted the Guangxi division of the “Village Basketball Association” in Guiping, as well as the 15th National Games Basketball Qualifiers, the “Douyin Football Carnival,” and the “Gangren Gangye Concert.” These initiatives have collectively enhanced its standing as a “City of Sports, Capital of Leisure.”

The “Douyin Football Carnival” garnered 1.83 billion impressions, propelling Guigang into the top three cities in Douyin’s search rankings. Thanks to this event, during the “March 3rd” festival, the city experienced an 18% increase in visitor arrivals and an 18.9% rise in tourism revenue year-on-year. Similarly, news related to the National Games Basketball Qualifiers accumulated approximately 36.74 million views, with a 29.17% year-on-year increase in hotel stays within Gangbei District’s quota-controlled accommodations, and a significant surge in surrounding consumption. The phenomenon of “attending an event for one day and staying for multiple days” has become evident, strengthening the brand appeal of “exploring Guigang through performances and events.”

The Guigang City Publicity Department stated that to maintain this positive trajectory, Guigang is intensifying its three-year campaign for the cultural and tourism sector. During the first half of the year, 22 new health and cultural tourism projects were signed, representing a total investment of 2.401 billion yuan. Additionally, 42 key cultural and tourism projects progressed rapidly, with 20 new projects commencing and 13 reaching completion. Concurrently, the city is actively investigating the integrated development of “culture-tourism + AI.” A notable advancement in this “culture-tourism + AI” initiative was the launch of an AI intelligent interpretation service at Pingnan County Museum in early July.

Amidst the peak of summer, the 15th Guigang Lotus Culture Series was ceremoniously inaugurated. This “Lotus City,” steeped in a millennium of history, once again issues a cordial invitation: “Fragrant for two thousand years, I’ve been waiting just for you!” Transitioning from ecological sightseeing to vibrant events, and from a camping haven to smart experiences, Guigang is shaping a contemporary cultural and tourism environment that blends tradition with modernity, establishing itself as a continually flourishing new center.
