The 2024 Imperial Springs International Forum (ISIF) convened in Madrid, Spain, from December 11th to 12th, bringing together over 200 participants from more than 50 countries representing political, academic, and business sectors. This marks the first time the forum, a leading Chinese platform for international civil exchange, has been held outside of China. The event aims to strengthen people-to-people connections between China and the global community and foster collaborative efforts to tackle shared global challenges.

Since its inception in 2014, the ISIF has hosted over 200 former heads of state and government, leaders from international organizations, and more than 600 distinguished experts, scholars, and business leaders from over 40 countries.

Over the past decade, participants have consistently praised the forum’s global perspective, its focus on both current events and long-term development. It has significantly contributed to enhancing mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world, promoting global dialogue and cooperation, and offering valuable insights and policy recommendations to support global governance reforms.

Dr. Chau Chak Wing, President of the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association, Chair of the Asia-Pacific Region, World Leadership Alliance – Club de Madrid President’s Circle, and Co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center Global Circle, noted the significant challenges facing global peace and development. He stated that, regardless of their roles, all members of the global community share a common responsibility to safeguard peace and foster global cooperation and progress. He highlighted the ISIF’s role as a symbol of mutual respect, enhanced understanding, strengthened trust, and broader consensus. The forum’s location in Madrid signifies the expansion of its network and the strengthening of international relationships.

Dr. Chau emphasized the need for innovative solutions to the challenges of this transformative era. He underscored the unwavering commitment to peace and development as humanity’s enduring path. Through collective action, he believes a more peaceful, inclusive, and harmonious world can be created for future generations.

The 2024 Imperial Springs International Forum, themed “Collective Action for One Future,” included over ten major events, comprising an opening ceremony, two closed-door sessions, a plenary discussion, six thematic sessions, and a closing ceremony. Key discussion topics encompassed “Global Strategic Stability,” “Financing for Development, Towards Full Implementation of the SDGs,” “Enhancing Global Cooperation: Shaping a Shared Future for Humankind,” “Traditional and Non-Traditional Challenges to Global Security,” “Tackling Challenges Facing the World Economy,” “United Nations Summit of the Future, the Future of Global Governance,” “AI & Green Technology for Progress and Development,” “Sustainable Development and the Second World Social Summit,” and “People-to-people Exchanges for Mutual Understanding.” These discussions addressed critical global issues across security, economic, technological, societal, and cultural domains, embracing diversity and focusing on future-oriented solutions.
