JIAMUSI, China, April 14, 2025 — The second annual Hanjiang Festival commenced this Saturday in Jiamusi, Heilongjiang Province, Northeast China, with satellite locations in Tongjiang, Fuyuan, Fujin, Huachuan, and Tangyuan.
According to the Jiamusi Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, a festival organizer, “Hanjiang” is a Jiamusi tradition where locals shout towards the river, praying for New Year blessings and a bountiful fishing season. In recent years, this custom has become a unique feature of the local cultural and tourism sector.
