Following the reveal of its Gen-7 autonomous driving system at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, Pony.ai began the mass production of the Guangzhou Automobile Group (“GAC”) and Beijing Automotive Industry Corporation (“BAIC”) Gen-7 Robotaxi models in June and July, respectively. The smooth incorporation of Pony.ai’s advanced autonomous driving technology into both GAC and BAIC vehicles underscores the strength of these collaborations, while upholding the highest benchmarks for quality and safety across component sourcing, pre-installation, and final assembly.
Shortly after initiating mass production, Pony.ai also started road testing operations in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. The Gen-7 autonomous driving system introduces three key improvements: it is the first globally to use 100% automotive-grade components, it achieves a 70% cost reduction in the bill-of-materials (“BOM”) for its autonomous driving kit (“ADK”) compared to the previous iteration, and it features an improved platform-based design that facilitates quick adaptation across various vehicle models.
