SINGAPORE, Aug. 08, 2025 — Demonstrating Singapore’s dedication to inclusive healthcare and efficient service delivery, the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation have collaborated to facilitate the provision of eyeglasses for patients in need at the SNEC Low Vision Clinic, timely for SG60.

Through this partnership, eligible SNEC patients experiencing low vision can now directly collect their prescribed eyewear from the Spectacle Hut store located at SingHealth Campus, streamlining the journey from prescription to collection and enhancing accessibility. By integrating dispensing support into the existing vision care pathway, this collaboration helps to address crucial gaps in the delivery of specialized eyewear to those who require it most.

To bolster this initiative, the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has contributed 600 pairs of eyeglasses, comprising 400 pairs of high-plus reading glasses and 200 pairs of ophthalmic frames for prescription glasses. This contribution aims to expand availability and offer patients a wider array of choices. High-plus reading glasses offer increased magnification for low vision patients, enabling them to perform daily activities, such as reading and other near tasks, with greater comfort and independence.

“This initiative signifies a new form of synergy between clinical care and retail expertise,” stated Patricia Koh, Head of the OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation, Southeast Asia, Japan and Korea. “As Singapore commemorates 60 years of progress, we are proud to support solutions that prioritize patients in our endeavors.”

“This collaboration provides enhanced convenience for our low vision patients, who frequently face challenges with mobility. It presents a welcome opportunity for us to improve our patients’ experience and elevate their quality of life by assisting them in improving reading and near task performance,” remarked Lisa Ong, Head of Allied Health at SNEC.

This new initiative underscores Singapore’s ongoing leadership in eye care innovation, aligning with the national SG60 theme: “Building Our Singapore Together.” In light of an aging population and increasing demand for rehabilitation services, this partnership offers a glimpse into a future of more interconnected and community-responsive healthcare.
