LUOYANG, China, Aug. 01, 2025 — The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Media and Think Tank Summit took place in Zhengzhou, Henan Province, from July 23 to 27. On July 26, more than 100 attendees made a site visit to Luoyang, where they experienced the vibrant spirit of this ancient city, which has stood for a thousand years.

Luoyang holds significance as a foundational hub of Chinese civilization, an imperial capital for thirteen dynasties, an eastern gateway of the Silk Road, and a key urban center along the Sui and Tang Dynasties’ Grand Canal. The city’s history spans over 5,000 years of civilization, nearly 4,000 years as an urban settlement, and more than 1,500 years as a capital city. Furthermore, it is a crucial traditional industrial base, designated as a priority by the People’s Republic of China. Notably, seven of the 156 major national projects during the first Five-Year Plan (1953-1957) were established here. In the contemporary era, Luoyang is actively participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, with China-Europe and China-Central Asia freight trains running continuously.

Next, at the magnificent “Wuhuang Shengyan” (a Tang-style Cultural Restaurant), visitors were immersed in a sensory exploration of the Tang Dynasty’s peak. Surrounded by intricately carved railings and jade-adorned architecture, they enjoyed fine cuisine accompanied by vibrant music and dance, deeply impressed by the imperial splendor of the Tang era. Many guests enthusiastically joined the performers onstage. Even after the banquet concluded, its memorable tunes resonated, leaving guests exclaiming, “Stunning! Magnificent!
