SHANGHAI, July 24, 2025 — The 8th annual World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2025) will take place in Shanghai from July 26-28, 2025. With the theme “Global Solidarity in the AI Era,” the event will gather global experts, industry executives, and policymakers to discuss the future of AI technology and global governance structures.
The conference has drawn over 800 exhibitors from China and abroad, who will display over 3,000 exhibits. Attendees will include representatives from more than 30 countries, featuring 12 winners of prestigious awards such as the Turing Award and Nobel Prize, over 80 academics from China and other countries, and delegates from international organizations like the United Nations Industrial Development Organization. A Turing Award recipient is scheduled to give a keynote address entitled “Era of Experience.” Furthermore, young scientists will gain international visibility through the SAIL Awards, Outstanding Youth Paper Awards, and BPAA Global Algorithm Competition.
Four exhibition halls have been created: H1 for core technologies, H2 for industrial applications, H3 for smart devices, and H4 for ecosystem connectivity. Together, these halls form an “AI Capability Corridor,” uniting algorithms and models, the integration of diverse scenarios, collaboration with embodied AI, and technological solutions to meet various needs. The Core Technologies Hall highlights foundational elements like large language models, computing chips, and data platforms, showcasing AI’s evolution. The Industrial Application Hall emphasizes AI-driven integration in key sectors such as intelligent driving, smart cities, fintech, and new industrialization. The Smart Device Hall integrates humanoid robots, hardware, and autonomous systems to address real-world challenges beyond theoretical demonstrations. Finally, the Ecosystem Connectivity Hall connects startups and investors through a closed-loop financing ecosystem, accelerating commercialization by linking outcomes, market demand, order matching, and resource allocation to complete the final stage of commercialization.
As a leading center for China’s AI sector, Shanghai’s AI industry exceeded 118 billion yuan in Q1 2025, with its talent pool representing one-third of the national total. Utilizing the city’s resources, WAIC will create a “WAIC City Walk” smart experience loop, showcasing the application of new technologies like drone commuting and the low-altitude economy across daily life services, urban transportation, and industrial ecosystems.
WAIC has systematically launched four sub-brands, creating a closed-loop ecosystem focused on “innovation incubation, industrial docking, thought leadership, and youth cultivation,” demonstrating the expanded functions of WAIC and its nature as a co-creation platform. WAIC Future Tech accelerates the matching of innovation resources, WAIC CONNECT unlocks real commercial demands, WAIC UP! co-creates the ideological coordinates of the AI era, and WAIC Young stimulates the scientific and technological potential of the youth.
WAIC 2025 will serve as both a technology showcase and a global dialogue forum for AI governance. The conference will release the “China AI Safety Commitment Framework,” aiming to balance technological innovation with risk governance and strengthen international consensus on collaboration. Centered on “thought incubation, technology exhibition, industry synergy, and rule deliberation,” this year’s WAIC will offer a “China solution” for collectively shaping an intelligent future.
