SINGAPORE, Aug. 11, 2025 — SixSense, a leader in AI solutions for semiconductor manufacturing, has secured $8.5 million in a new funding round. The round was spearheaded by Peak XV’s Surge (formerly Sequoia India & SEA), with contributions from Alpha Intelligence Capital, Febe, and other investors.
Established by engineers Akanksha Jagwani and Avni Agarwal, SixSense addresses a major challenge in the semiconductor industry: transforming raw production data from sources like defect images and equipment signals into actionable, real-time insights. This enables factories to proactively prevent quality problems, increase production speed, and maximize the number of usable chips produced.
Driven by the growing demand from sectors such as AI, 5G, IoT, and electric vehicles, chip manufacturers are striving to create smaller and more intricate chips, which leaves very little margin for error. “The creation of a single chip is an incredibly complex manufacturing process. It takes place in environments much cleaner than hospital operating rooms and relies on the precise synchronization of hundreds of machines and thousands of sensitive steps,” stated Akanksha Jagwani, Co-founder and CEO of SixSense. “Imagine building a skyscraper using microscopic Lego bricks, where a slight, imperceptible shift in one brick could cause the entire structure to collapse. This is the challenge chip factories face daily.” Identifying potential failures early, before they escalate into costly defects or delays, is a significant hurdle, making AI an indispensable tool.
From Data to Intelligence
SixSense AI provides engineers with early warnings needed to address issues. The platform assesses extensive amounts of production data to identify, categorize, and forecast failure patterns, enabling factories to transition from reactive inspections to proactive process control.
With SixSense, manufacturers gain the ability to:
- Detect subtle but crucial defects that are often overlooked by human inspectors.
- Reduce the unnecessary rejection of functional chips, thereby boosting usable output or yield.
- Anticipate process variations before they result in significant failures.
“Unlike conventional AI tools, SixSense is compatible with various hardware systems, provides clear explanations, and is designed for engineers, not just data scientists,” explained Avni Agarwal, Co-founder and CTO. “Process engineers have the ability to refine models using their own factory data, implement them in less than 48 hours, and rely on the results, all without needing to write any code. This is what makes the platform both impactful and practical.”
A Proven Platform with Global Traction
SixSense is currently used on inspection lines at prominent semiconductor manufacturers including GlobalFoundries and JCET. Their clients have processed 100 million chips using the SixSense system and have generally experienced benefits such as:
- 30% faster production cycles
- 1%–2% increase in yield through the recovery of chips that would have otherwise been incorrectly discarded.
- Up to 20% reduction in errors and >90% reduction in manual effort
The platform integrates effectively with major inspection equipment vendors, covering over 60% of the market collectively.
What’s Next
With the new funding, SixSense plans to:
- Expand its presence in key chip manufacturing locations including Malaysia, Taiwan, and the U.S.
- Establish partnerships with more AI-focused inspection equipment manufacturers to provide enhanced AI integration on-site.
- Invest in next-generation R&D, shifting from standalone inspection tools to line-level intelligence, enabling multiple machines to communicate via AI to improve real-time decision-making across the factory.
“We began with a single step in the process – defect review – and quickly realized that customers required more comprehensive solutions,” said Akanksha. “We are now developing an intelligence layer that encompasses the entire production line, which will become a fundamental requirement for all modern fabrication facilities.”
About SixSense: SixSense is an AI-driven platform revolutionizing semiconductor manufacturing by converting raw production data into real-time factory intelligence. This intelligence aids factories in preventing quality issues, increasing throughput, and producing a greater number of high-quality chips. Founded by engineers Akanksha Jagwani and Avni Agarwal, the company assists chipmakers in detecting defects early, improving yield, and preventing costly production problems across increasingly complex fabrication lines. Unlike traditional AI tools, SixSense is hardware-agnostic, explainable, and built for process engineers, enabling quick deployment without coding. Backed by Peak XV’s Surge, Alpha Intelligence Capital, and Febe, SixSense is building the intelligence layer every modern fab needs, from single inspection points to AI-driven line-level control.
