The Organizing Committee of Taihu Talent Development Conference

WUXI, China, Aug. 10, 2025 — The 2025 Taihu Talent Development Conference commenced on August 8 in Wuxi, an eastern Chinese city renowned as the “Pearl of Taihu Lake.” This event marks the eighth consecutive year the prominent “Taihu Talent” initiative has been held. It brought together 100 alumni associations and showcased 600 alumni-driven projects from both China and abroad, with the total talent funding reaching 10 billion yuan.

Strategically positioned at the core of the Yangtze River Delta metropolitan cluster, Wuxi is recognized for its high regard for knowledge and its pragmatic culture. In 2024, the city’s GDP reached 1.6263 trillion yuan, with its per capita GDP ranking among the highest when compared to other Chinese cities.

In recent years, Wuxi has actively implemented its “Taihu Talent Plan.” The city currently hosts 2.3 million talented individuals, including 192,000 high-level professionals, and 2,104 officially registered talent-based enterprises. This significant influx of skilled professionals has fueled the rapid expansion of sectors like integrated circuits and biomedicine, leading to significant breakthroughs in emerging productivity, such as advanced photonic chips, the “Zhulong-1” nuclear battery, and the world’s inaugural domestically developed lung cancer drug.

Returning overseas talent Xu Zhihan described his entrepreneurial journey as “a narrow escape from death,” expressing appreciation for Wuxi’s openness towards “imperfect” talents. He stated, “By allowing more individuals to innovate and make mistakes, Wuxi will only become even greater.”
