NANJING, China, Dec. 04, 2024 — The State Grid Jiangsu Electric Power Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd.’s Yangzhou-Zhenjiang ±200kV DC transmission project successfully completed the China Electric Power Construction Association’s (CEPCA) green construction assessment from November 20th to 25th.

This project, China’s first AC-to-DC conversion project, repurposes the existing Wufeng Mountain crossing, transforming an AC line into a DC line. This conversion significantly boosts transmission capacity from 600,000 kilowatts to 1,200,000 kilowatts, with potential for future expansion to 3,600,000 kilowatts. This eases pressure on existing cross-river infrastructure, substantially increases north-south electricity transmission capacity, and optimizes clean energy distribution in Jiangsu and the Yangtze River Delta region.

CEPCA’s assessment thoroughly evaluated the project’s green planning, design, construction, handover, and innovative aspects. Inspectors lauded the project’s high level of green construction, highlighting its commitment to green principles throughout every stage. Through effective management and technological innovation, the project achieved significant resource conservation, environmental protection, and energy efficiency improvements. The project’s green construction sets a new industry standard for power projects.

The company plans to continue its commitment to green construction, sharing its best practices to guide future projects.
