On Sunday evening, Hacks luminary Hannah Einbinder was awarded her inaugural Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
“Go Birds, f–k ICE, and free Palestine,” Einbinder declared during her acceptance speech, with the CBS broadcast censoring her voice when she uttered “f–k ICE.”
In her breakthrough performance on Hacks, Einbinder portrays a young comedy writer tasked with developing material for a veteran comedian played by Jean Smart—who had earlier in the night secured her fourth Emmy for her portrayal of Deborah Vance in the series—and adapting the content for contemporary audiences. For this role, Einbinder has accumulated four Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations.
Prior to the ceremony, Einbinder revealed during an interview with E! on the Emmys red carpet that Hacks would conclude with its forthcoming season.
“We’re set to commence filming next week, and the realization that this is the final season is truly bittersweet,” she remarked. “However, I believe it’s the correct decision, you know? It’s commendable to undertake something for its appropriate duration, without overextending its welcome. To execute it fully, embrace the laughter and tears.”
