On Thursday, First Lady Melania Trump refuted any connections to the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell, stating that the false narratives connecting her to these convicted sex offenders “must end.” During a speech, Melania Trump asserted, “I’ve never been friends with Epstein,” though she admitted that she and Donald Trump occasionally attended the same social gatherings as him.

(SeaPRwire) –   First Lady Melania Trump rejected any association with the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein and his business partner Ghislaine Maxwell this Thursday, declaring that the “lies” associating her with these two convicted sex offenders “must end.”

“I’ve never been friends with Epstein,” Melania Trump stated during a Thursday address, though she noted that she and Donald Trump were occasionally invited to the same events as Epstein.

She emphasized that “overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach.”

In her unexpected remarks, the first lady refuted claims that Epstein introduced her to President Donald Trump or that she was ever a victim of Epstein’s illegal activities. She further claimed she was unaware of Epstein’s abuse of his victims.

Melania discusses email correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell

Melania also addressed the emails exchanged with Ghislaine Maxwell, characterizing the communication as nothing more than “casual correspondence.”

“To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell,” Melania stated. “My polite reply to her email doesn’t amount to anything more than a trivial note.”

Documents released by the Department of Justice reveal that an email was sent in October 2002 from “Melania” to “G” concerning a New York Magazine profile of Epstein.

“I know you are very busy flying all over the world. How was Palm Beach? I cannot wait to go down. Give me a call when you are back in NY,” the email states.

Additionally, the first lady denied ever traveling on Epstein’s aircraft. While Department of Justice files indicate her husband’s name appears on Epstein’s flight logs eight times between 1993 and 1996, mere inclusion in these files does not inherently imply misconduct.

Melania urged Congress to conduct a public hearing allowing Epstein’s victims to share their accounts.

She stated that “we still must work openly and transparently to uncover the truth,” though she did not explicitly demand the full release or unredaction of the Epstein files.

“Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public if she wishes, and then her testimony should be permanently entered into congressional record. Then, and only then, we will have the truth,” she remarked.

Trump’s previous connection to Epstein

The friendship between Trump and Epstein lasted over a decade, beginning in the late 1980s and concluding around 2004.

In 2003, a suggestive birthday note featuring the outline of a nude woman and bearing Trump’s name and signature was sent to Epstein for his 50th birthday. The note reads, “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” The White House has refuted claims that Trump signed the note.

Epstein’s associate Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence for child sex trafficking, was moved to a minimum-security prison camp in Texas in August 2025, not long after a meeting with then-Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche.

Maxwell continues to seek a presidential pardon, a request Trump stated he “has not thought about.”
