The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) director stated that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has been discreetly dissolved, with eight months remaining on its mandate.

Director Scott Kupor confirmed that DOGE—the extensive cost-cutting initiative spearheaded by billionaire Elon Musk that of President Donald Trump’s second term—”no longer exists,” further noting that the majority of the office’s responsibilities have been integrated into OPM, the federal government’s human resources department.

Upon his departure, Musk had not neared the achievement of the promised savings. DOGE’s website asserts federal savings of $214 billion, yet numerous reports indicate the department exaggerated, revised, or overstated these figures.

Following Musk’s exit from government, scores of staffers—including the central leadership team—have In October, 45 staffers were still with DOGE, and the office during the government shutdown, according to a memo issued at the time.

Many of the remaining individuals have since assumed new positions across various departments within the executive branch.
