XIAMEN, China, June 16, 2025 — The 17th Straits Forum’s main event commenced on June 15 in Xiamen, Fujian province.
Since 2009, the forum has aimed to boost cross-strait relations, organizing almost 800 events and attracting over 350,000 participants, including more than 140,000 individuals from Taiwan.
This year’s forum, themed “expanding people-to-people bonds and deepening integrated development,” and positioned as “non-governmental, grassroots, and extensive,” featured 56 activities. Besides the main conference, exchanges occurred in primary-level, youth, culture, and economy sectors, with over 7,000 attendees from various sectors in Taiwan.
Currently, Fujian is developing policies to become a prime destination for Taiwanese individuals and businesses, which includes establishing a cross-strait integrated development demonstration zone, strengthening Fujian-Taiwan service industry cooperation, supporting agriculture, forestry, and fishery businesses focused on the Taiwan market, and aiding Taiwan compatriots in Fujian.
