BEIJING, April 13, 2025 — China Energy Engineering Corp Ltd (CEEC), the sole Chinese central enterprise exhibiting at the China Pavilion during Expo 2025, is presenting its integrated eight-network future city solution. The Expo 2025, which commenced in Osaka on April 13, features CEEC’s “Smart Future City” exhibit, highlighting China’s modernization efforts and promoting global sustainable development through international collaboration.
Expo 2025, themed “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, includes participants from over 150 countries, regions, and international organizations. The China Pavilion, among the largest foreign-built pavilions, focuses on “Building a Community of Life for Man And Nature — Future Society of Green Development”. It showcases traditional Chinese ecological wisdom and green development achievements.
CEEC’s smart city display, featured in the “Endless Vitality” section, centers on its eight-network integrated future city development solution. The exhibit prioritizes immersion, interactivity, and engagement, aligning with the “future society” theme.
According to Chu Xinyan, CEEC’s brand management and convergence media department manager, the company utilizes model sand tables, 3D video, interactive multimedia, and a thematic light show to blend digital innovation, green revolution, and cultural heritage.
The presentation highlights China’s advancements in areas like clean energy, AI, smart transportation, zero-carbon buildings, and the low-altitude economy.
CEEC’s board chairman and executive director, Song Hailiang, stated the company’s dedication to “building livable, resilient, and smart cities.”
CEEC’s proposed eight-network integrated future city development solution integrates the energy, transportation, digital, water, ecological, industrial, health, and cultural networks.
Song explained that “Through continuous integration, transformation, and upgrades, the solution enables deep interaction and coexistence among these networks, enhancing the city’s economic efficiency, ecological resilience, and cultural vitality.”
CEEC’s integrated city development solution features over 10 advanced clean energy technologies, including marine energy integration, compressed air energy storage, high-altitude wind power, and solar thermal power. Chu stated that “These new technologies offer a Chinese answer to global energy transformation.”
CEEC has operationalized the world’s first 300-megawatt compressed air energy storage demonstration project in Yingcheng, Hubei province, achieving world records in unit power capacity, storage scale, and conversion efficiency.
The company’s investment in the world’s largest integrated green hydrogen-ammonia-methanol project in Songyuan, Jilin province, is slated to begin operations this year.
In Jixi county, Anhui province, CEEC has successfully generated electricity with the country’s first grid-connectable megawatt-level high-altitude wind power demonstration project.
The company is also developing wind, photovoltaic, solar thermal, nuclear, and hydrogen power projects.
