The collaboration will be immediately bolstered by ICPO’s accreditation process, which adheres to international theranostics guidelines, and the resources of the ICPO Academy for Theranostics.
Wiesbaden, Germany, and Sao Paulo, Brazil – July 31, 2025. At the 2025 annual congress of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) in New Orleans, USA, the ICPO Foundation and the Brazilian Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SBMN) formalized a strategic partnership, expanding upon their prior Memorandum of Understanding. This collaboration seeks to establish a sustainable framework for the accreditation and ongoing development of ICPO Clinical Theranostics Centers of Excellence throughout Brazil. Jointly, ICPO and SBMN are committed to improving nationwide patient access to theranostics, focusing on optimizing clinical standards, targeted capacity building, and certified training programs for continuous enhancement of patient care.
This strategic partnership launches the “ICPO Clinical Theranostics Center of Excellence” accreditation, commencing with a pilot phase for selected centers based on a documentary review. This process guarantees that each center meets stringent international standards, aligning with guidelines from leading global societies such as IAEA, SNMMI, EANM, and ENETS.
SBMN will play a crucial national role by identifying candidate centers, verifying their local regulatory compliance as a prerequisite, and ensuring these centers are prepared to meet the requirements of the “ICPO Clinical Theranostics Center of Excellence”. Accredited centers will receive a joint certificate signed by both ICPO and SBMN, who are serving as official accreditation partners in Brazil.
“We are delighted to collaborate with SBMN in Brazil, where cancer patients will soon benefit from increased availability of radiotheranostics treatments,” stated Odile Jaume, CEO of the ICPO Foundation. “By merging SBMN’s national expertise with ICPO’s internationally recognized accreditation standards and educational platform, we are empowering local professionals and enhancing patient outcomes through capacity-building and knowledge exchange.”
“The cooperation with the ICPO Foundation, formalized at SNMMI 2025, represents a pivotal milestone for theranostics-based cancer care in Brazil,” commented Dr. Elba Etchebehere, President of SBMN. “It initiates a new era of standardized quality processes, professional training, and patient-centered excellence. Our shared goal is to ensure that each center receives the necessary support to expand and deliver outstanding cancer care.”
The ICPO Academy for Theranostics provides a comprehensive online educational program, developed by the ICPO Foundation and accessible in multiple languages. Supported by a global expert community, this online program includes over 50 hours of content, delivered by more than 30 leading professionals across medicine, science, technology, and patient care. Its primary objective is to disseminate knowledge in Radiomolecular Precision Oncology, ultimately enhancing patient outcomes through radiopharmaceutical therapies.
About ICPO Foundation
The International Centers for Precision Oncology Foundation (ICPO) is a non-profit organization founded in 2019 under German law by prominent international medical practitioners and life sciences entrepreneurs. Acknowledging a paradigm shift in cancer care from a ‘one-size-fits-all’ model to a personalized approach, the ICPO Foundation actively supports this transition by striving to broaden global patient access to Radiomolecular Precision Oncology. To this end, the ICPO Foundation seeks to establish an international network of physical diagnostic and therapeutic Centers for Precision Oncology. This network is built on a foundation of shared expertise, certified education via the ICPO Academy for Theranostics, and standardized design and processes to ensure optimal global clinical practice.
