Singapore, June 16, 2025 — On June 10, 2025, the Korea Smart Healthcare Association (Chairman: Ki-Jun Shim) and SL Foundation (CEO: Sang-Sub Gong) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a strategic alliance. The goal is to promote medical technology innovation in Korea and improve global public health. The agreement centers on jointly developing a next-generation medical platform using multimodal technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and blockchain.
The Korea Smart Healthcare Association is a leading organization in the digital healthcare industry. It focuses on digital medical device education, policy development, and ecosystem growth. Its work contributes to public health improvement and strengthens national competitiveness. Members include top medical institutions like Seoul National University Hospital, Wonju Severance Christian Hospital, and Korea University Anam Hospital, as well as innovative companies like Kakao Healthcare. It operates with the approval of government ministries, including the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The MOU outlines plans for collaborative research and commercialization in digital healthcare. This includes developing a multimodal medical dataset, an explainable AI (XAI) learning platform, and a marketplace for XAI models.
The partnership also includes technological collaborations such as AI-based medical devices, secure blockchain systems for medical data, and transparent AI training. SL Foundation’s native token will be used for data transactions within the medical data ecosystem. This is expected to be a key part of a decentralized medical data infrastructure.
Se-Hwan Lee, Vice-Chairman of the Korea Smart Healthcare Association, said that the partnership is a major step for healthcare’s future, integrating data, AI, and blockchain, balancing innovation and public interest. Sang-Sub Gong, CEO of SL Foundation, said the collaboration aims to accelerate XAI and blockchain applications in healthcare, leading to a decentralized healthcare data model.
Both organizations plan to strengthen cooperation through academic exchanges, joint research, and talent development to drive personalized medicine innovation, increase research transparency, and enhance Korea’s digital healthcare capabilities.
