The 2024 Panzhihua Sunshine Health Care Festival launched on December 15, 2024, in Panzhihua City, Sichuan Province, attracting numerous residents, tourists, and athletes to participate in various competitions, activities, and sightseeing opportunities within this “City Without Winter.”
Organized by the Panzhihua Municipal People’s Government, the festival promoted the city’s health and wellness sector through sports and nationwide fitness initiatives. A new smart guide map for sports tourism in Panzhihua was unveiled, enhancing accessibility for both locals and visitors.
The event concurrently hosted the 2024 National Mountaineering and Fitness Trail League Finals, drawing over 2,200 athletes and outdoor enthusiasts nationwide for a “Sunshine Competition” showcasing the synergy of sports and nature.
Meng Guangfu, men’s individual long-distance race champion in the finals, praised Panzhihua’s ideal weather and unique race course, highlighting the enjoyable experience of competing under the city’s warm winter sun.
Known as “Flower is A City, City is A Flower,” Panzhihua, China’s only flower-named city, boasts an average annual temperature of 20.7 degrees Celsius, avoiding extreme winter cold and summer heat. Situated at an elevation between 1,300m and 1,500m, the city’s sub-plateau environment supports better sleep, cardiovascular health, and blood cell production.
A pioneer in China’s health and wellness industry since its 2010 introduction of the “Health and Wellness” concept, Panzhihua has transitioned to a model encompassing retirement residences, sports, recuperation, and educational tourism, leveraging its climate, forests, hot springs, traditional Chinese medicine, and unique agricultural resources. This industry is a key driver in Panzhihua’s transformation and high-quality development. The 2024 China (Panzhihua) Health and Wellness Industry Conference on December 5th resulted in 31 strategic cooperation agreements with companies including Shudao Investment Group, Sichuan Development Holding Co., Ltd., and Sichuan Provincial Investment Group Co., Ltd., totaling a planned investment of 21.09 billion yuan.
Panzhihua’s health and wellness industry has exceeded a ten-billion-yuan added value for four consecutive years, attracting nearly 300,000 regular visitors annually for health-related purposes.
