Paderborn, Germany, March 10, 2025 – Schubeler and HEGGEMANN are partnering to develop and manufacture electric motors for the advanced air mobility sector.

Both companies are key players in the aerospace hub located in the Lippstadt/Paderborn area. Their executives, having known each other for years, are now collaborating due to the rapid growth of Advanced Air Mobility. Schubeler specializes in designing and manufacturing small production runs of electric propulsion systems, including electric motors, electric ducted fans, and compressors, primarily for Aerospace and Advanced Air Mobility clients.

HEGGEMANN has a long history of designing and manufacturing aerospace components like landing gears, jet engine parts, and structural assemblies for Aerospace OEMs. The partnership leverages the complementary expertise of both companies, creating a comprehensive resource for aerospace and advanced air mobility companies seeking certified electric motors for their aircraft.

Daniel Schubeler, Founder and Co-CEO, Technology, stated, “This partnership marks a crucial step in realizing electric propulsion. Advanced Air Mobility clients developing propulsion units with us are already planning for industrialization, even if it’s a few years away. Schubeler is the ideal partner for development, prototyping, and small series production. Our collaboration with HEGGEMANN ensures a secure path to large-volume production that meets aviation standards when the time comes.”

Robert Heggemann, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, HEGGEMANN AG, added, “Electric propulsion is a natural area to utilize our expertise in manufacturing aviation-grade components and systems. Manufacturing aerospace-certified components presents unique technical challenges. HEGGEMANN brings years of experience in manufacturing and servicing safety-critical aerospace components under its Production Organization Approvals to this relatively new technology. This partnership provides customers with access to Schubeler’s advanced knowledge in electric propulsion and HEGGEMANN’s trusted industrial production capabilities, fully compliant with aviation requirements.”

Both companies agree that the partnership is beneficial from both an expertise and industrial perspective. Their facilities are located just minutes apart, and their teams have experience working together, as Schubeler tests its high-voltage, high-power electric ducted fans at HEGGEMANN.

Daniel Schubeler concluded, “I’ve been wanting to work with Robert for years. We are all excited about this unique combination of talents.”
