BEIJING, Aug. 06, 2025 — WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a global innovator in autonomous driving technology, has secured authorization to conduct late-night testing of its Robotaxi services on public roads within the Beijing High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Zone, specifically from 10 pm to 7 am. This achievement represents a vital advancement for WeRide in establishing a continuous 24/7 autonomous ride-hailing network in Beijing, thereby laying the groundwork for all-weather, all-day autonomous mobility solutions.
Beijing’s intricate nighttime road conditions, marked by low light, environmental disturbances, and heavy summer rains or winter snow, present considerable hurdles for autonomous driving systems. Such conditions place elevated demands on the systems’ perception, decision-making, and control capabilities, particularly in ensuring effective sensor fusion between LiDAR and cameras in dimly lit settings, accurately identifying pedestrians at night, and executing prompt responses.
To mitigate potential visibility issues at night, WeRide’s Robotaxi is equipped with over 20 sensors, including high-precision, high-dynamic cameras and high-line LiDARs positioned throughout the vehicle. Coupled with its proprietary multi-sensor fusion algorithm and HPC high-performance computing platform, the system achieves 360-degree blind-spot-free coverage with a detection range of up to 200 meters. This configuration guarantees stable perception and swift decision-making even under poor lighting or adverse weather, facilitating safe, uninterrupted nighttime operations.
Extreme weather phenomena like rain, dust, and heavy snow also pose challenges to the stability of autonomous driving. WeRide addresses this by employing automotive-grade sensors, rigorous assembly processes, and a self-developed intelligent sensor cleaning system that detects dirt and moisture and initiates automatic cleaning — ensuring precise, dependable perception across all environmental conditions.
As a prominent global entity in the Robotaxi domain, WeRide has conducted Robotaxi testing or operations in 10 cities across four countries, accumulating over 2,200 days of secure open-road experience. In May 2025, WeRide inaugurated China’s first 24/7 autonomous ride-hailing network in Guangzhou, a Tier-1 city, thereby gaining extensive full-day, all-scenario operational expertise.

The initiation of 24/7 Robotaxi autonomous driving testing in Beijing marks a significant milestone in validating WeRide’s technology and safety systems. It also contributes to bridging gaps in public transportation during off-peak hours, such as late nights and early mornings, by enhancing vehicle availability during less frequented times and in more remote areas.
Moving forward, WeRide is committed to further leveraging its proprietary full-stack autonomous driving technology and safety systems to expand its ride-hailing services, thereby supporting the advancement of smarter, more sustainable urban transportation.
