BEIJING, March 12, 2025 — WeRide (Nasdaq: WRD), a leading autonomous driving technology company, announced today that it has obtained a permit to operate commercial Robotaxi services between the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area (BDA) and Beijing South Railway Station.

This achievement represents the first commercial Robotaxi service in Beijing’s central urban area. With this expansion, WeRide’s Robotaxi service area in Beijing now exceeds 600 square kilometers, approximately the size of Shanghai’s six main downtown districts.

Starting today, passengers can use the “WeRide Go” app to easily book a WeRide Robotaxi.

Beijing South Railway Station, one of Asia’s largest high-speed rail stations and a major transportation hub in China, serves as a key terminal for high-speed trains to East China on the Beijing-Shanghai Railway, Beijing-Shanghai High-Speed Railway, and Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway. It manages over 150,000 passengers daily during peak times.

The approval for commercial operations at Beijing South Railway Station demonstrates the reliability and safety of WeRide’s Robotaxis, proving their ability to navigate complex, high-traffic environments with pedestrians and vehicles.

WeRide, the first publicly listed Robotaxi company, has been a pioneer in the sector, with Robotaxi services already operating in nearly 10 cities globally, including Guangzhou, Beijing, Nanjing, Ordos, Suzhou, Abu Dhabi, and Zurich. In December 2024, WeRide partnered with Uber to deploy the largest Robotaxi fleet in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi. This recent advancement in Beijing’s central urban area signifies another important step towards widespread commercialization of WeRide’s Robotaxi services.

Going forward, WeRide plans to further expand its Robotaxi service area in Beijing, incorporating more locations such as airports and high-speed railway stations, and replicate its successful business models in additional international markets, promoting the global commercialization of Robotaxis.
