NANJING, China, May 23, 2025 — The 2025 Belt and Road Youth Sports Exchange Week (Jiangsu) commenced this Wednesday in Jiangyin, Jiangsu Province, eastern China, with the participation of nearly 500 international students from 66 nations and regions.
The event, taking place at Jiangyin Feima Water City from May 20-27, includes a youth men’s 3×3 basketball invitational, a youth outdoor sports challenge, and a youth orienteering training camp, all designed to foster cross-cultural communication and friendly competition.
Mutai Ronald Kipsang, a Kenyan doctoral student at Nanjing Agricultural University, stated that sports break down barriers as a common language that unites individuals from all countries and backgrounds. He added that teamwork and the pursuit of excellence unite people, emphasizing that the event is not only about skills but also about developing enduring friendships and sharing ideas.
The exchange week, now in its fifth year, has become a key cultural program for Jiangsu, a province recognized for its economic strength, educational resources, and strategic connections with Belt and Road partners. By combining sports and cultural elements, the event promotes Jiangsu’s cultural identity while strengthening relationships between young people from around the world through shared athletic activities.
Jiangsu has enhanced its collaboration with Belt and Road countries and regions in areas such as trade, technology, and people-to-people interactions, capitalizing on its geographical advantages and strong economic and academic base.
This annual event highlights this dedication by utilizing sports to promote Chinese culture, disseminate local stories, and foster a sense of peace, friendship, and cooperation among those involved.
