Wildfires raging across the Los Angeles region on Wednesday forced thousands to evacuate. The Palisades Fire, initially reported at 10:30 AM PST Tuesday, was fueled by wind gusts reaching 60 MPH Tuesday night, prompting widespread evacuation orders.

By Wednesday morning, the fire had consumed at least 2,921 acres and was 0% contained, with further expansion anticipated due to strong Santa Ana winds and low humidity.

Another fire, the Eaton fire, reported Tuesday evening by CalFire, had spread to 2,227 acres by Wednesday morning. It, along with three other fires in Los Angeles and Riverside counties, remained 0% contained Wednesday morning.

The fire has damaged homes and businesses in Pacific Palisades, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department reporting 1000 structures destroyed by the Palisades Fire as of Wednesday morning. Significant power outages affected the LA region.

California Governor Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency Tuesday night and announced Wednesday morning that over 1,400 firefighters were deployed to combat these “unprecedented fires.” No fatalities had been reported as of early Wednesday. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
