Romnick shared his experience as a college lecturer in an interview with Boy Abunda on “Fast Talk”. He said that he enjoys teaching and learning from his students. He also revealed that some of his students ask him for selfies because their mothers have a crush on him.
“What’s funny is that most of my students say: Sir, puwede ba akong magpa-selfie kasi crush ka ng nanay ko,” Romnick said.
“So mas feeling ko na safe ako dahil ‘yung nanay nila ang may crush sa akin,” he added, chuckling,” he added in jest.
Romnick began teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic, and he stated that the time was an opportunity to learn rather than be affected by the negativity of the situation.
He explained, “It’s the time to learn instead of allowing ourselves to be affected by the negativity of the situation, if we decide to respond instead of react—then we may be able to see that this is to our advantage.”
At the time of the quarantine, he had to teach online and give out materials for his students to study. Romnick said, “Since I also teach a couple of courses, I’m trying to keep up with that while I am quarantined at home. My class is working on material that may help with information dissemination.”
According to Romnick, he finds great fulfillment and joy in teaching. One of the things that makes him happy is seeing students who are eager to learn.
He wrote on Facebook, “There is no greater joy in teaching than in finding that the students are eager to learn… for when one is eager, they can learn more than the one who simply listens.
Those who seek knowledge will find it. And those who apply the knowledge will grow in wisdom.”
When he has no schedule teaching students, he is acting on GMA’s “Unbreak My Heart” with Jodi Sta. Maria, Richard Yap, Gabbi Garcia, and Joshua Garcia.
