Amidst a growing online dispute between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, a former ally and significant campaign contributor, Vice President J.D. Vance has addressed the situation.
Late Thursday night, Vance stated that President Trump has, more than anyone else in his lifetime, earned the trust of his supporters.
He further emphasized his support for Trump, declaring his pride in standing with him.
Vance’s statement follows Musk’s indirect involvement of the Vice President in the disagreement. Musk is currently leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
On Thursday, Musk responded with “yes,” agreeing with a social media post advocating for Trump’s impeachment and Vance’s succession to the presidency.
Musk also acknowledged Vance’s post, where the Vice President commented on a “slow news day” while preparing for an interview with podcaster Theo Vaughn, humorously questioning what they would discuss.
The conflict between Trump and Musk intensified after Musk criticized Trump’s bill, which is under Senate consideration. The Tesla CEO described the bill as a “disgusting abomination” and posted extensively on social media on Wednesday to oppose the legislation. He urged people to contact their senators and congressmen to “kill the bill.”
Trump responded by telling reporters in the Oval Office that he was finished with Musk. The dispute escalated into a personal exchange through posts on their respective social media platforms.
Musk claimed that Trump would have lost the election without him, expressing ingratitude.
In another post, Musk suggested that Trump’s name appears in the Epstein files, which is why they haven’t been fully released, though he provided no supporting evidence.
Trump retorted that Musk was “wearing thin” and that he had asked him to leave. Trump claimed to have removed Musk’s EV Mandate, which required the purchase of electric cars, leading to Musk’s outburst.
The back-and-forth between the President and his former associate shows no sign of abating. However, Vance’s recent expression of support for Trump indicates his position on the matter.
