WUHAN, China, Feb. 25, 2025 — On February 23, a group of auto brands manufactured in Wuhan were collectively showcased at a global launch event held at Dongfeng Motor Corporation’s global innovation center, situated in the Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ), also known as China Auto Valley.

Auto brands from China Auto Valley eye faster growth.

The Wuhan-made auto brands on display included Dongfeng Voyah, Dongfeng Honda, Dongfeng M-Hero, Lotus, Dongfeng Eπ, Dongfeng Aeolus, and Dongfeng Nammi.

The WEDZ, which was established and has flourished thanks to the automotive industry, hosts 10 vehicle manufacturers, 14 complete vehicle plants, and over a thousand parts suppliers.

“We value collaboration within the automotive sector, working alongside our partners to develop high-quality vehicles for them,” stated Tang Chao, director of the WEDZ’s management committee. He also noted that the zone has developed a full range of vehicles, from mainstream to luxury models.

Tang Chao added that over the next three years, they plan to launch one to two new models each quarter, covering a price range of 50,000 to 1 million yuan. These will include plug-in hybrids, extended-range vehicles, pure electric vehicles, and hydrogen-powered options, all designed to meet the needs of users.

In 2024, Voyah experienced eight consecutive months of increasing sales, with annual sales increasing by 70 percent year-over-year. Li Boxiao, deputy general manager of the brand’s sales service company, announced that the company will focus entirely on intelligent technology this year, with the goal of achieving annual sales of 200,000 vehicles.

Li Boxiao mentioned that the brand intends to release more than four new or updated models, incorporating advanced intelligent driving features across its entire product line. He also mentioned that the first model to feature Level 3 autonomous driving technology is currently in development.

Gong Xi, assistant to the executive vice president of Dongfeng Honda, stated that the first pure electric LINGXI-L, produced by Dongfeng Honda’s new energy plant, marks a significant step in the brand’s EV transformation. He added that the Dongfeng Honda S7, Honda’s first high-end pure electric SUV, will offer a pleasant electric experience to more users in China.

Qiao Xinyu, vice president of marketing for Lotus China, announced that the return of the Chinese trademark of Lotus in January was a major milestone in the brand’s resurgence. According to Tang, the brand will launch its Navigation on Autopilot (NOA) feature in 16 cities across the country, making it the only global luxury sports brand that offers NOA functionality without the need for a map.

Tao Haiying, director of brand operations for Dongfeng M-Hero, stated that this year will see a faster pace of product development for Dongfeng M-Hero. The luxury electric SUV brand plans to launch the extended version of the M-Hero 917 in April, and a new smart electric off-road vehicle developed in collaboration with Huawei is scheduled for release in the second half of the year.

Dongfeng Motor manages three main brands: Dongfeng Eπ, Dongfeng Aeolus, and Dongfeng Nammi. Hu Yang, head of the marketing support department at Dongfeng passenger vehicle sales company, stated that the three brands will collectively launch 30 new products over the next three years.

Hu Yang said that the new model, Nammi 06, is expected to launch soon, and there are plans to introduce several models within the year, including the eπ007 and eπ008 annual refresh versions, as well as a new plug-in hybrid model from Aeolus.
