The 2024 China-ASEAN Marathon commenced on November 24th at Fangchenggang City’s Beibu Gulf Ocean Culture Park. More than 20,000 participants from over a dozen countries and regions took part in this coastal city event.

The marathon included a full marathon, half marathon, 10K fitness run, and 5K fun run. The full and half marathons started and finished at the Beibu Gulf Ocean Culture Park, traversing notable city landmarks like Egret Park, Fubo Cultural Park, Xiwan Scenic Area, Xianren Mountain Park, and the Zhenyuling Bridge. The course showcased Fangchenggang’s “sea, beach, and mountain” landscape.

The event fostered significant international collaboration, enjoying strong support from several international sister cities and ASEAN consulates general (including Cambodia and Myanmar in Nanning). Delegations from international partners such as Yeongdong County (South Korea), Rzeszów (Poland), and Quang Ninh Province (Vietnam) participated. Zhukovsky City (Russia), Loei (Thailand), and Hai Phong City (Vietnam) also extended congratulatory messages.

Kenyan athletes secured victories in both the men’s and women’s marathon categories.
