Applications Invited: Outstanding Young Scientists in Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, and Mathematical Sciences!
HONG KONG, Jan. 12, 2025 — The Hong Kong Laureate Forum 2025 (the Forum) is now accepting applications, closing on March 31, 2025. We welcome applications from PhD graduates, postgraduate (PhD/Master’s) students, and undergraduate students aged 35 or younger, pursuing studies or research in Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, Mathematical Sciences, or related fields. Eligible applicants should submit their applications via [link removed].
The inaugural Forum provided a global platform for cross-generational, cross-cultural, and cross-disciplinary exchange and the generation of new ideas.
The inaugural Forum, held successfully in 2023, was lauded for its stimulating discussions and intellectual exchange among participants, Shaw Laureates, and other leading scientists. Building on this success, the Hong Kong Laureate Forum Council (HKLF) announces the second Forum, scheduled for November 5-8, 2025, in Hong Kong. The Forum aims to inspire innovation and build lasting interdisciplinary, intergenerational, and intercultural connections. Besides plenary lectures, panel discussions, and parallel sessions, informal gatherings will facilitate networking and dialogue.
Professor Timothy W Tong, SBS, BBS, JP, Chairman of the HKLF, stated, “We aim to create a vibrant environment where young scientists can interact with leading global scientists across disciplines. Hong Kong’s status as a global research hub, along with its robust scientific infrastructure and government support, makes it the ideal location for this international scientific gathering.”
Professor E Peter Greenberg, Shaw Laureate in Life Science and Medicine 2015, commented: “Bringing established scientists together with aspiring young researchers is invaluable, and I felt compelled to participate.”
Professor Simon D M White, Shaw Laureate in Astronomy 2017, added: “I eagerly anticipate meeting and engaging with young scientists. This interaction is the heart of the Forum, and what I most look forward to.”
A Scientific Review Panel of local and international academics will select the top 200 young scientists. Applications are invited by March 31, 2025. Further information is available at [link removed]. Inquiries can be directed to [email removed].
