WUHAN, China, Sept. 23, 2024 — The Mulan Grassland, situated in Wuhan, central China, hosted its inaugural Naadam Festival on September 21st. This event, co-organized by Xilinhot in Inner Mongolia and Wuhan’s Huangpi District, aimed to foster cultural exchange and collaboration between the two regions.

Organized by Mulan Grassland Management Company, the three-day festival showcased the captivating cultural traditions of the Mongolian people and the grassland landscape through meticulously curated ethnic group themed events. These events featured performances from Xilinhot, displays of intangible cultural heritage, and participation from tourists in Wuhan and other areas.

The twelve event lineup included traditional Naadam competitions, ethnic costume presentations, and music and food festivals. “Bökh” (Mongolian wrestling), archery, and horse racing, known as the “three skills of a Mongolian male,” were prominent features of the festival, accompanied by other intangible cultural heritage and art experiences from Xilinhot. Visitors were given the opportunity to try on ethnic costumes or participate in bökh challenges, experiencing the unique allure of Mongolian culture.

With an anticipated 20,000 visitors, the festival is projected to further strengthen ties and usher in a new era of cultural exchange and tourism cooperation between Wuhan and Xilinhot.
