FUZHOU, China, Aug. 16, 2024 — On August 15, the 12th Straits Youth Day, jointly organized by the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, the All-China Youth Federation, and the Fujian Provincial People’s Government, was held in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, bringing together approximately 1,100 young individuals from both sides of the Taiwan Strait.

As the core event of the 12th Straits Youth Day, the gathering focused on key areas and emerging topics related to integrated development across the Taiwan Strait. It delved into compelling personal narratives and case studies, showcased the achievements in constructing the Demonstration Zone for Integrated Development Across the Taiwan Strait, depicted the inspiring journey of young people connecting, learning from each other, and advancing together, and fostered a festive atmosphere for them to forge connections and build understanding.

In line with the objective of “friendly city and promising youth,” Fuzhou, the host city, proactively announced a plan to establish a “Strait Youth Development-Oriented City” and associated measures, emphasizing key areas such as educational tourism, social practice, and rural construction, aiming to provide comprehensive support for Taiwanese youth seeking exchange and development opportunities in Fuzhou.

A total of 42 activities for the 12th Straits Youth Day will be rolled out from May to December 2024, spanning fields including sci-tech innovation, employment, entrepreneurship, sports, culture, art, folk beliefs, and more. Moreover, to integrate youth development into all activities, over 2,000 sought-after job opportunities will be made available to young Taiwanese.

Fuzhou has been hosting the Straits Youth Day annually for 11 consecutive years since 2013, attracting a cumulative total of 36,000 young people, including 20,000 from Taiwan, with over 50% of them experiencing the mainland for the first time.
