MANILA, Philippines – (Updated) A magnitude 6.3 earthquake jolted Luzon areas with epicenter in Batangas on Thursday morning, June 15, 2023, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

Phivolcs said it traced the epicenter of the earthquake 15 kilometers southwest of Calatagan, Batangas. It had a depth of 103 kilometers.

The earthquake, recorded at 10:19 AM, was of tectonic origin.

Metro Manila and Luzon areas like Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, La Union, Pangasinan, Quezon province, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Mindoro also experienced tremors.

Phivolcs added that damage and aftershocks may be expected.
